27km Merlot

The 27km Merlot is a true trail runner’s course, taking you deep into the rolling hills surrounding Mount Avoca Winery and the spectacular Pyrenees region of Victoria. With sweeping views, rugged ridgelines and quiet bushland trails, this route showcases some of the best terrain the region has to offer.

The course is approximately 83% unpaved trail and 17% road, delivering an authentic trail running experience from start to finish. Expect a mix of flowing singletrack, farm tracks, vineyard trails and challenging climbs that will test your legs and reward you with incredible views.

A few sections are seriously steep. In fact, there are climbs that a 4WD would struggle to conquer. You may find yourself scrambling, hiking or questioning your life choices for a few moments, but that’s all part of the adventure. The sense of achievement at the top makes every step worthwhile.

Once you’ve crossed the finish line, the reward continues at the event village. Grab a seat with friends, relive the highs and lows of the day and enjoy an ice-cold refreshment from the Mount Avoca Winery Cellar Door. With great wine, local food and vineyard views, there’s no better place to celebrate a day on the trails.
