We’ve also got the 25km SHIFTY SMALLY, perfect for those looking to test the waters of MTB racing or making a return.

COURSE OVERVIEW

For those racing the Shifty Fifty, you’ll do two laps of this fun, flowy 22km route for a total of 44.6km and 776m of climbing. The Shifty Shorty will do a single lap.
You’ll do one lap of a fun 10km loop. This is perfect for people looking to dip their toe in the water and give timed MTB riding a go.
WHAT ARE THE START TIMES?
We have a self-seeding start procedure for Roll’d Gold. :
- Registration open 8:30
- Rider Briefing 9:35 in village. After the briefing, riders in Shifty Fifty and Shifty Shorty leave for the start line after briefing
- Shifty Smally (10km) starts at 9:45 from the village
- e-Bike starts 9:55
- 10:00 In it to win it – if you’re looking to race this is for you.
- 10:05 to 10:10 choose your start time and beat the flock.
WHERE ARE THE FEEDZONES ON COURSE?
The only feed zones on the course are located at the event village. Entrants will pass through the village at approximately the 3km, 9km, 25km, 31km distance marks.
IS THERE FOOD ON SITE?
Yes. There will be BBQ food (sausages, burgers, veggie burgers) and barista coffee will be available for purchase.
WHERE CAN I PARK?
Parking Marshalls will guide attendees to appropriate parking either at the southern end of the event village or along the verge of Dalton’s Road, just a couple of hundred metres from the event village.
GETTING HERE/WHERE IS THE EVENT VILLAGE?
Walmer Forest is a little over 3km from the centre of Castlemaine. You can view the location view on Google Maps here.
Directions from Castlemaine.
- From the Midland Hwy which passes North-South through Castlemaine …
- Follow Parker St(which then becomes Walker St, then Richards Road) in a West, then northern direction, for about 1.8km – Look for MTB Event signage
- Ceer left onto the Castlemaine – Muckleford Rd (Daws Rd) for a further 900m
- Turn right toward the Walmer Day Visitor Area (Recreation Area)
